Beautiful uncancelled bond certificate from the Cuidad De Puebla De Zaragoza issued in 1910. This historic document was printed by American Bank Note Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of the the city's seal. This item has the signatures of officers and is over 100 years old.

Puebla de Zaragoza, municipality and State Capital of Puebla (Mexico).

The city of Puebla, also is well-known like “Puebla of Los Angeles” or “Angelópolis”. It is the fourth bigger and important city of Mexico, only after the City of Mexico, Guadalajara and Monterrey, according to the last census made in the 2005; and simultaneously the fourth greater metropolitan area of Mexico after the metropolitan areas of the City of Mexico, Guadalajara and Monterrey. It is a beautiful city where old and the new thing is: the factories of crafts and talavera, the skyscrapers and the buildings of colonial type of 400 years of antiquity.

Founded in 1531 as Ciudad de los Angeles, the city represented a bastion for Spaniards mid-way between Mexico City and the port of Veracruz. Later the name was changed to Puebla de los Angeles. The Battle of Puebla, in which Mexican troops defeated French invaders took place in 1862 at the Forts of Loreto and Guadalupe. The victory is celebrated annually throughout the country as the 5 de mayo holiday. General Ignacio Zaragoza was in command during that battle and died soon after. The city was re-baptized Puebla de Zaragoza in his honor.
