Beautiful SCARCE certificate #16 from the Hawaiin Bell Telephone Company issued in 1888. This historic document was printed by Hawaiian Gazette Print Company and has an ornate border around it with vignettes of a woman swimming and a wildlife scene. This item has the signatures of the Company's President and Secretary and is over 120 years old. Attached to original ledger page on left side. Ragged edge on top and right side. Would look terific framed. The certificate was issued to Cordelia H. Brown and endorsed on the verso.

All Hawaiian Telephone Companies eventually merged into Mutual Telephone Company. Mutual later became GTE and most recently Verizon. Hawaiian Bell Telephone (1880) drew heated competition from Mutual Telephone(1883) until they merged in 1895 - the first of many to follow.
