Orange County Abstract Company - Santa Ana, California 1889

Beautiful certificate from the Orange County Abstract Company issued in 1889. This historic document was printed by Los Angeles Lithographic Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of the company logo, a book and a group of trees. This item has the signatures of the Company's President, W. F. Bartlett and Secretary and is over 119 years old.


Certificate Vignette When the county of Orange was carved out of Los Angeles County in 1889, two title companies served the area, Santa Ana Title Company and Orange County Abstract Company. Five years later, C E. Parker effected the consolidation of the two firms as Orange County Title Company, predecessor of First American Title Insurance Company.

The First American Corporation is the nation's leading provider of business information and related products and services. The Title Insurance Company can trace it's roots to 1889 when two firms were merged, Orange County Abstract Company and Santa Ana Abstract into Orange County Title Company, the immediate predecessor of today's First American Title Insurance Company.

In 1968, North Valley Title and Escrow Company established an agency relationship with First American Title Insurance Company to offer title insurance and escrow services in Shasta County. In 1973, First American Title Insurance Company took over the operations of North Valley Title and Escrow Company in Shasta County to operate as First American Title Insurance Company.

In the year 2000, First American Title Company announced the opening of its new operations in Trinity County, with its branch office in Weaverville. In 2003, First American opened its office in Burney, California to further accomodate its clients in Eastern Shasta County, the only title insurance company east of Redding.
