Beautifully engraved certificate from the American Telegraph and Cable Company issued in 1916. This historic document was printed by the Franklin Bank Note Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of Jay Gould. This item has the signatures of the Company’s officers and is over 104 years old. This is the first time we have seen an issued certificate from this company, although specimen certificates do exist. We believe the issued certificates are quite rare. Small stain on front in upper left corner and light paper clip rust stains on front and back as can be seen in the scans. Light folds.
The certificate was issued to James Clendenin Eckert and is endorsed by him on the verso. He was the son of the Union General James Clendenin Eckert.
