Beautiful certificate from the California Bank issued in 1897. This historic document was printed by Los Angeles Lithographic and has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of the original bank building. This item has the signatures of the Company's President, Saur Lewis and Cashier, J. G. Moss and is over 121 years old.
The California Bank was incorporated August 8, 1887, and opened for business November 1, 1887. Its subscribed capital stock was $500,000; paid up, $300,000; and its surplus $20,000. There has been no material change in its management since it commenced business. H. G. Newhall is president, H. C. Witmer vice-president, and T. J. Weldon, cashier. This was the last bank to join the Los Angeles Clearing House, being No. 8.
