Beautifully engraved certificate from the Commercial Telegram Company issued
in 1888. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of a woman receiving a telegram while children read a book, an early stock ticker machine with telegraph lines, and a cherub holding a tourch. This item is hand signed by the Company's V. President ( John Anderson ) and Secretary ( George W. Casper ) and is
over 125 years old. The certificate was issued to Hy. Remsen Ritch and is endorsed by him on the verso. This is only the second time we have had this company's certificate for sale.

In 1890, the New York Stock Exchange secured a major interest in the Commercial Telegram Company and was reorganized as the New York Quotation Company. They made the New York Quotation Stock Ticker the exclusive Stock Ticker on Wall Street. The New York Quotation Stock Ticker was all around early Wall Street and served the members of the exchange until the 1929 stock market crash.
