Beautiful certificate from the Mutual Telephone Company issued in 1892. This historic document has an ornate border around it with a vignette of building between two palm trees. This item has the printed signatures of the Company's President, and Secretary, and is over 122 years old.
1883: King Kalakaua grants Mutual Telephone Co. a charter to provide service in the islands.
1954: Mutual changes its name to Hawaiian Telephone Co.
1967: GTE Corp. acquires the company, which becomes GTE Hawaiian Tel.
2000: GTE merges with Bell Atlantic to form Verizon, spawning the Verizon Hawaii moniker.
