Beautifully engraved unissued certificate from the Jefferson Mercantile Company printed in the 1920's or earlier. This historic document was printed by Goes and sold by the Southern Stamp & Stationery Company. It has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of an allegorical woman sitting on a machine and holding a lightbulb in the air. This item is
over 80 years old.
This unusual certificate was used as marketing piece for printing certificates for companies. The cost at the time was "1 Book 100 Certificates, Lithographed, Printed, Numbered and Bound with Seal Press all complete for $5". This is a unique iotem that we haven't seen before.
