Beautiful unissued certificate from the Bergen Neck Railway Company printed in the 1885. This historic document was printed by Wm.F. Murphy's Sons, 509 Chestnut St. Phila. and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an a nineteenth-century train boarding passengers at a train station. This item is over 126 years old.
Certificate Vignette The Bergen Neck Railway Company was incorporated under laws of New Jersey on July 20, 1885. Bergen Neck is an antiquated name for the peninsula between the Upper New York Bay and the Newark Bay in the Hudson County, New Jersey municipalities of Bayonne and Jersey City. It southernmost tip, Bergen Point, lies on the Kill van Kull close to the Bayonne Bridge (which connects to Staten Island).
