Beautiful Certificate from the famous India Mutual Insurance Company issued in 1911. This historic document was printed in Boston by Rooper and Lewis Company. It has an ornate border around it with three vignettes including an old steamship, sailing vessel, sailor and helmsman. This item is hand signed by the company's president and secretary, and is over 104 years old.
Certificate Charles J. Morrill, Benjamin K. Hough, corporators. Charles 0. Whitmore, their associates and successors, are hereby made a corporation by the name of the India Mutual Insurance Company, in the city of Boston, for the purpose of Location, making insurance against maritime and fire losses, on the mutual principle; with all the powers and privileges, and Privileges and re- subject to all the duties, liabilities and restrictions set forth in all general laws which now are or hereafter may be in force relating to such corporations. Section 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage. Approved March 29, 1857
