Beautifully engraved certificate from the Kona-Kau Telephone and Telegraph Company, Ltd. issued in 1907. This historic document was printed by the Star Print Company and has an ornate border around it. This item is hand signed by the company's president. J. A. Maguise and secretary, Luther S. Aungst and is over 101 years old. This is a scarce issued certificate from Hawaii's Big Island. The certificate was issued to W. H. Greenwell and signed by him on the verso. Luther Aungst was a German immigrant who became Kona's first telephone operator. Aungst, an entrepreneur, also operated Kona Bottling Works.
