Beautifully printed check from the Manhattan Silver Mining Company of Nevada issued in 1881. This historic document was printed by Edward Denny & Co. and has an ornate border around it with a printed, orange, diamond shaped 2-cent Internal Revenue Service stamp at center. This item is hand signed by the Company's agentand is over 130 years old. The company was the largest producer in the district around 1867. It was the first company to use the Stedfeldt Furnace, which reduced roasting costs by half, and saved the company from bankruptcy.
