Beautifully engraved certificate from the Utica Steam and Mohawk Valley Cotton Mills issued
in 1904. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an eagle holding a shield in its claws. This item is hand signed by the company’s president, John Crose and treasurer, George Deforest and is over 100 years old.
The Utica Steam and Mohawk Valley Cotton Mills - State Street, was erected in 1848. In 1868, it employed 1,800 and contained 130,000 spindles and 3,000 looms.
