Beautifully engraved certificate from the Stormont Mining Company of Utah issued in 1884. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company - New York and has an ornate border around it with a fantastic vignette of cherubs fighting using gold coins as shields with a train passing in the background. This item is hand signed by the Company's officers and is over 122 years old.

Certificate Vignette
This is highly desirable certificate because of the coins (seated dollars) in the vignette. The Stormont was a major producer at Silver Reef. In 1884, with a neighboring mine, they produced 234,000 ounces of bullion. They claimed to recover 80% in their mill. (Ref: Burchard, 1885, p430.)
