Beautifully engraved certificate from the City of Toppenish issued in 1912. This historic document has an ornate border around it. This item is hand signed by the City's Mayor ( H.M. Johnson ) and Clerk and is over 91 years old. In the lower Yakima Valley, Toppenish is the town "where the West still lives." Daily wagon tours of its building murals are popular with tourists. The nearby Yakama Indian Nation runs a family-friendly casino and will soon add a retail center to a growing list of economic development assets, which may one day include a golf course, hotel and convention center. Zillah is a classic country town with a white-steepled church -- and talk of a water park up the road. In Sunnyside, tourists can see how cheese is made at the Darigold plant. Sunnyside has also grown as a lower valley retail center. New residential neighborhoods are springing up in Grandview, which is busily updating streets and public facilities to enhance its neighboring industrial park.
