Beautiful certificate from the Cuban Land and Steamship Company issued in 1901. This historic document has an ornate border around it with a vignette of Columbia. This item has the signatures of the Company's officers. We are also including land deed and signed paperwork.
The Cuba Land and Steamship Company was a New Jersey company that founded the community of La Gloria in Camagüey, Cuba in 1899. The company sold Americans plots of land in a town that only existed on blueprints, which led many to return home after realizing the property was on a swamp. Some stayed on and became farmers of citrus, sugarcane, and cattle, but most left. The La Gloria Cemetery is located next to the community.
