How long has been in business and on the Internet?

We have been in buying and selling stock and bond certificates (Scripophily) since 1990 and on the Internet since 1996.  Our research business (RM Smythe) has been in operations since 1880. We have seen many start up and old traditional catalog companies come and go on the internet.  Many of
them had high aspirations, but were unable to adapt to the changing and competitive environment.     
We pride ourselves on our ability to be competitive and provide quality customer service.  We are able to do this by keeping our overhead costs down (including office space) and by designing all of our websites and automated systems with in-house expertise.  Please see our About Us section to find out more about our company's history.

Are the certificates you sell Authentic?

To the best of our knowledge, everything we sell is authentic.  Although we have seen other companies (catalog and internet) sell reproductions, we do not sell reproductions.  If an item is ever found not to
be an original, we offer a lifetime money back guarantee.  We have sold over 10,000 certificates over the past several years, and have never had one returned due to authenticity.  

If the certificates you sell are authentic, how can you sell multiple copies?

When we have multiple certificates of the same company, each certificate is uniquely identified on its face by having a different serial number.  This is similar to how money is printed.

Why don't you offer a paper catalog of your selections?

We don't offer a paper catalog because our inventory is constantly changing and we believe our website is a more accurate representation of our inventory on hand.  Those companies who have issued fixed price catalogs incur much higher operating costs which is reflected in their products' pricing.  Furthermore, catalogs have a limited shelf life and become outdated very quickly.

How do I place an order?

Browse our store and as you decide which items you'd like to order, add them to your shopping cart.  When you're finished shopping, just click the Proceed to Checkout arrow, provide the information requested (shipping, credit card, etc.), and submit your order. Will I receive the same item shown in the image on your site?

If the item is a one of a kind, you will naturally get the item shown.  If we have more than one example of the item listed, we will provide you the same type of item in all respects such as dates, color, style, signatures, etc.  As indicated in our guarantee, if you are unhappy for any reason or you simply change your mind, feel free to return the item.  If you're not satisfied, we're not satisfied.


Are all Items shown on your site on hand? 

Unlike some other companies we have seen on the net and producers of paper catalogs,  all items are on hand unless they have recently been sold.  We have over 15,500 items in inventory and make every
effort to keep our online inventory as current as possible.  We sometimes have sold items and are in the process of removing them from our website which can take up to 24 hours.  In addition, we
have some items on consignment which may be taken off the market at the consignor's request.  We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, not to do business with people we find offensive. How do I return an item? wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with your purchase or there is a problem, please send the item back in a protective envelop similar to how you received the item to:
