Beautifully engraved RARE certificate from the Little Pittsburgh Consolidated Mining Company issued in 1880. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of an allegorical women flanking an eagle, cornucopia and a view of the sun rising behind mountain on top and Colorado Arms on bottom. This item has the signatures of the Company's President and Secretary. The company was incorporated in New York and had property in Leadville, Colorado.
Horace Tabor was originally a shopkeeper in Leadville who grubstaked two out of luck prospectors. They discovered the Little Pittsburgh Mine. It was capitalized after one year for $20 million.
Little Pittsburgh Consolidated Mining Co. claims included the Little Pittsburgh, New Discovery, Dives, Union, and the Winnemuck.
