Beautifully engraved unissued certificate from the Mutual Telephone Company printed in the 1880's. The company was incorporated on August 16, 1883. This historic document was printed by the Hawaiian Gazette Company and has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of palm trees and a girl fishing. This item is
over 110 years old. The certificate has been updated in red ink with the capital being increased from $30,000 in 1883 to $50,000 in 1884, and increased in 1890 to $100,000. During this period, the shares were issued at $10 each.
Old Hawaii certificates are very scarce and as are old telephone companies. This certifcate combines the two.
