Beautifully engraved certificate from the National Ship Copper Plating (Spanish American War) issued in 1902. This historic document was printed by the Homer Lee Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of two ships with the one in the background shining a searchlight on the one in front. This item has the signatures of the Company's President, James H. George and Treasurer, richard Grant, and is over 107 years old. The certificate was issued to William J. Conklin and endorsed by him on the verso.
Certificate Vignette The company was incorporated in 1896 in West Virginia. The had offices on 253 Broadway in New York. They made copper plating for the protection of a ships hull.
