Beautifully engraved certificate from the Topeka Community Baseball Corporation issued
in 1956. This historic document was printed by the Goes Bank Note Company and has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of the Kansas State Seal. This item is hand signed by the Company's President ( Philip C. Gibson ) and Secretary ( Phil H. Lewis ) and is over 48 years old. It also comes with a shareholder letter.
Certificate Vignette
The Topeka Hawks began in 1956 in the Class A of the Western League. The team was financed by more than 2,000 local stockholders. Poor attendance and escalating travel expenses caused the league to fold after three seasons.
