Beautifully engraved certificate from the Boston Fish Market Corporation issued
no later than 1927. This historic document was printed by the Franklin-Lee Bank Note Company and has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of the the old fish market pier with boats docked along side. This item is hand signed by the Company's President and Treasurer and is
over 78 years old. This is the first time we have had this for sale.
The Boston Fish Market had more than a half-million square feet. It was made entirely of cement, brick and glazed tile and could berth 40 vessels, while simultaneously unloading them and 40 more besides.
The Fish Pier is still located on the northwest side of the South Boston Seaport about a mile and a quarter from the State House.
