MAE WEST- Hollywood Legend. This is a wonderful vintage letter on Mae West's personal stationery. It is dated August 26, 1941 and contains very interesting content! West has written to Gary Cooper asking him to help her obtain funds for Warden Clinton Duffy at San Quentin Prison. She writes in part that "Warden Clinton Duffy is doing really wonderful work in prison administration......." "At this time Warden Duffy is preparing to award prizes to the men in prison who prove most worthy....". "I am sure you will be glad to find room among your other donations for a contribution for the encouragement of the boys in the "Big House" who have inspired such a lot of our screen material". She has signed on the second and last page. Her signature is dark & bold. The letter has some staple holes in the top left hand corner and an old horizonal crease in the center from when it was originally mailed. Otherwise it is in excellent condition. A great piece of Hollywood memoribilia! This item is hand signed by Mae West, and is over 69 years old.
