Beautiful SCARCE unissued Certificate from the Anthracite Beer Company . This historic document was printed and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of two horses on both side of an old sailing vessel and an eagle. This item is over 60 years old. The company was located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. People came to the Anthracite region of Pennsylvania to work in the mines, mills, and factories....and have a good brew. The mining and use of Anthracite coal in the 19th century was critical to the industrialization of Pennsylvania and the United States. Coal was dominant for more than a century and helped form a distinct culture. Its production and use were the basis for the growth of transportation and manufacturing, and led to cultural and social changes of major importance.
