Voucher from the Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter Company issued in 1910 hand signed by the Elmer Burlingame, the company's founder. This item is over 110 years old. Elmer Burlingame invented the Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter, which worked much like, what was later called, the teletype machine. In September 1909, the headquarters of the Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter Co. was moved to Boston, Mass., and a factory was established at 169 Oliver Street, in the heart of the manufacturing district, under the direct supervision of Elmer Burlingame: Officers, President, John B. Martin, Vice President, Elmer Burlingame, inventor of the Burlingame Telegraphing Typewriter, Secretary, W. J. Kiefendorf, Treasurer, Dorchester Trust Co., all of Boston, Mass.
