Beautifully engraved certificate from the Calaveras Central Gold Mining Company, Ltd. issued in the 1930's. This historic document was printed by the Jeffries Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an eagle perched on a rock. This item is hand signed by the Company's President ( Harry Sears ) and Secretary ( T. L. Fritzen ) and is at least 74 years old.

Sears retired from a successful career in magic to become a prosperous gold miner in California as the president of the Calaveras Central Gold Mining Company. The Calaveras Central Gold Mining Company, Ltd. was a reorganization of the Calaveras Central Mining Corporation organized in 1926 to take over the Victor drift mine. The developed by a 350 shaft and 1500 ft bedrock tunnel. Production prior to 1931 was $100,000. Anticipated future production was $150,000 to $200,000 per year @ 200 ton per day capacity. The 1939 Mines Handbook said they had about 30,000 feet of underground workings from two shafts on 880 acres of patented claims.
