Beautiful certificate from the Chambersburg Woolen Manufacturing Company issued in 1868. This historic document was printed by Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of a woman. This item has the signatures of the Company's President and Treasurer and is over 140 years old.
Certificate Vignette Chambersburg Woolen Manufacturing Company opened their mill in Chambersburg, Franklin County in 1866. Their mill site was originally used for a variety of paper-making operations. The paper buildings were destroyed during the Civil War in McCausland's raid in 1864 during the burning of Chambersburg.
