Beautifully engraved certificate from the Columbia Transportation Company issued in 1863. This historic document was printed in Portland and has an ornate border around it with vignettes of a sidewheel steamship and train with blue and red lettering. This item has the printed signatures of the Company's President ( Thomas Smith ) and Secretary (Joseph M. Fletcher ). Small punch hole in upper left corner in Extra Fine Condition.
Certificate Vignette The company was in business to transport people from the east coast to the west coast of the United States during the Gold Rush. The company would pick up and deleiver passengers traveling on the Panama Railroad in South America and bring them to California and the Washington Territory.
