Beautifully engraved specimen certificate from the Hooker Electrochemical Company. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company in the 1950's and has an
ornate border around it.
Hooker Electrochemical Company began operations began in 1906 producing five tons of caustic soda and 11 tons of bleach per day on a six and three-quarter acre site. Hooker Electrochemical Company acquired Oldbury Chemical Company in 1956, and Niagara Alkali Company in 1957. Hooker was acquired by Occidental Petroleum Corporation in 1968, and was renamed Occidental Chemical Corporation in 1983. It's now called OxyChem and it is located in the heart of Niagara Falls, NY, 15 miles north of Buffalo, on the banks of the Niagara River.
