Beautiful certificate from the Lasalle Hotel Realty Company
issued in 1921. This historic document was printed by Oval & Koster Litho and has an
ornate border around it with a vignette of the company name. This item has the signatures of the Company's President, Herbert lederer, Treasurer, Louis Allart and Secretary, Vitus G. Jones and is over 86 years old.
Vitus Jones was a co founder of the law firm, Jones Obenchain.
Jones Obenchain has been in continuous practice in South Bend, Indiana, since 1906. The firm traces its history to the partnership of Vitus Jones, a “double-Domer,” and Roland Obenchain, Sr., a veteran and graduate of the universities at Valparaiso and Yale. The earliest incarnation of today’s Jones Obenchain was seen as one of the best firms in Indiana and was described by the South Bend Tribune as one of the strongest in the central west, serving clients in Indiana and Michigan.

The Lasalle Hotel is an historic building that's played a big part in South Bend’s past. The building sits in one of the city’s most high-profile spots, at the corner of Michigan and LaSalle Streets downtown. It’s right beside the Morris Performing Arts Center and has been designated historic because of its façade.
The hotel LaSalle closed in 1973, and the building has been vacant since the late 1990s.
