The firm traces its history to the partnership of Vitus Jones, a "double-Domer," and Roland Obenchain, Sr., a veteran and graduate of the universities at Valparaiso and Yale. The earliest incarnation of today's Jones Obenchain was seen as one of the best firms in Indiana and was described by the South Bend Tribune as one of the strongest in the central west, serving clients in Indiana and Michigan. History from Jones Obenchain Press information. The Lasalle Hotel is an historic building that's played a big part in South Bend's past. The building sits in one of the city's most high-profile spots, at the corner of Michigan and LaSalle Streets downtown. It's right beside the Morris Performing Arts Center and has been designated historic because of its façade. The hotel LaSalle closed in 1973, and the building has been vacant since the late 1990s.
