Beautifully engraved certificate from the Northern Railroad Company of New Jersey issued in 1923-1924. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of a train. This item is hand signed by the Company's Vice-President and Assistant Secretary and is over 77 years old.
Certificate Vignette The Erie Railroad Purchased Capital Stock of the Northern Railroad Company of New Jersey in 1913 for $457,867. The Northern Railroad of New Jersey line rand from Croxton, New Jersey to Nyack, New York. The first track was 26.050 miles and the second track was 21.63 miles in length using standard gauge. The company was operated under lease by the Erie RR Company which began in 1899.
