Beautifully engraved certificate from the Pacific Hotel Company of Chicago issued in 1873. This historic document was printed by Rand, McNally & Co. and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of national union shield. This item is hand signed by the Company's President (L.B. Otis) and Secretary (Henry M. ??) and is over 131 years old.
Certificate Vignette The Pacific Hotel Company, had control of eighteen hotels on the line of the Union Pacific. In 1887, Union Pacific opened the new Garfield Beach Resort, located on the Utah & Nevada border. A wye was built at the resort to turn the trains. The resort was operated by the Pacific Hotel Company and consisted of a restaurant, hotel and a 160 x 165 dance pavilion, located 270 feet offshore.
