Beautifully engraved Certificate from the Victor Page Motors Corporation issued in 1922. This historic document has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an allegorical woman and an underprint of an early convertible Motor Car. This item is hand signed by the Company's President ( Victor Page ) and Secretary ( Frank Mead ) is over 81 years old. Condition is VF+ Victor W. Page began his automotive career in 1902, just nine years after the Duryea brothers built the first American car, and by 1910, he had established himself as one of the country's leading authorities on automobiles. Page' was the foremost technical writer of his day. He wrote a great many articles and books on the theory of operation and repair of automobiles. He also wrote extensively on airplanes and airplane service, and he wrote books about motorcycles, tractors, and boats. In short, he wrote about anything that was powered by an internalcombustion engine. Page' was more than a writer, however, he was a talented engineer and inventor who designed and attempted to manufacture an airplane and several automobiles and trucks. He raised $1,500,000 with his sales of stock, but only 128 cars came off the production line. He was sued by his shareholders and closed up shop in 1924.
