Certificate Vignette The Boston & New York Chickasaw Land Company was involved with the auctions of cheap Indian lands as a result of cessions of land by the Choctaw and Chickasaw. The company represented investors/speculators from New York, Boston, and other New Englanders. Although a Boston company, the land was in Mississippi. The Chickasaw Indian tribe lived in northern Mississippi, and were one of the 'five civilized tribes' of Oklahoma. They were enemies of the French but friends of the British, and were fierce fighters.
