Fox Entertainment Group, Inc., owned by The News Corporation Limited (NYSE: NWS), is principally engaged in the development, production and worldwide distribution of feature films and television programs, television broadcasting and cable network programming. Fox has total assets as of December 31, 2001 of approximately US$24.0 billion and total annual revenues of approximately US$9 billion. The Company's studios, production facilities and film and television library provide high-quality creative content, and the Company's broadcasting and cable networks provide extensive distribution platforms for the Company's programs. The company, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, is one of the largest entertainment conglomerates in the world. Fox Entertainment produces, develops, and distributes motion pictures (X2: X-Men United) and television shows (24, The Simpsons, American Idol) through its various filmed entertainment operations. It also owns the FOX Broadcasting Company, which operates 35 TV stations across the US, 34% of DIRECTV parent The DIRECTV Group, and FOX Cable Networks (including FX). In addition, the company owns FOX Sports Net, which has interests in regional cable sports channels. The remaining programs (such as Special Report with Bret Baier, On the Record w/ Greta Van Susteren, and editions of America's News HQ not broadcast from the New York City studios) are broadcast from Fox News's Washington, D.C. studio, located on Capitol Hill across from Union Station in a secured building shared by a number of other television networks (including NBC News and C-SPAN). Audio simulcasts of the channel are aired on XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
