Beautiful certificate from the Northern Railroad issued in 1854. This item has the signatures of the Company's President and Treasurer and is over 155 years old. The Northern Railroad was chartered in 1844, opening in 1847 from Concord to Lebanon, New Hampshire and later extending to White River Junction, Vermont. The Boston and Lowell Railroad leased it in 1884 as another part of its Northern Division.
