Jules Semon Bache 1861–1944, American banker and art collector, b. New York City. He made an immense fortune on Wall St., organized the banking firm of J. S. Bache and Company, and was director of 12 other firms. In 1937 he opened his magnificent art collection to the public, and in 1944 the collection was given permanently to the Metropolitan Mus. It includes famous works by Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, Velázquez, and other masters.

Prudential Securities traces its roots back to 1879 and a concern called Leopold Cahn & Co. Brokers and Investment Bankers. Shortly after its establishment, the firm brought Jules Bache on board, who in 1892 reorganized the company as J.S. Bache & Co. In 1981, the company (then called Bache Halsey Stuart Shields) was acquired by Prudential and called Prudential-Bache Securities. The firm shortened its name to Prudential Securities in 1991.

Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad Company History

The Tennessee Coal, Iron, and Railroad Company was one of the largest industrial firms in the Birmingham area.
